CAN I EXCHANGE MY ITEM?

If you would like to exchange an un-sized item you will need to return the item* for a refund and place a new order.

Custom items cannot be returned or exchanged.

*I do not accept returns on earrings if they have been worn.

WHO PAYS FOR THE POSTAGE?

Unfortunately I do not cover the return postage of items returned for an exchange or refund. I also cannot be responsible for lost items in the post, so please choose a reliable method (such as signed for) to post your returning item.

Please ensure ALL returns are made in original condition and in original packaging.

WHAT IF AN ITEM IS FAULTY?

All handmade items will have some level of "imperfection" as they are not machine made. Each item has its own unique qualities and differences and no two pieces are ever the same. These are not faults - they are elements from the making process.

Please never return an item prior to contacting me - I cannot accept returns for refunds unless you have made prior contact with me and arranged a return. Please photograph the item with an explanation of the fault so that I can investigate the cause.

All pieces are cleaned prior to postage but I cannot be held responsible for tarnishing due to conditions during transit (such as packages not being left in dry and secure locations).

Some of my beads are very delicate, therefore can break if banged or dropped. It some cases it may be possible to fix / replace elements but this will depend entirely on the piece and may incur a small charge depending on the breakage. Please email sales@carolineoliver.co.uk

GOOD TO KNOW & CARE

Jewellery doesn’t like chemicals such as perfume, soaps and chlorine and should also not come into contact with water. Please look after your jewellery by removing before coming into contact with these things.

Silver Jewellery (999, 950, 925)

Unlike the popular "waterproof" jewellery, silver jewellery will eventually tarnish as it is solid silver (not silver plated or coated stainless steel). Some types such as 925 will require some level of maintenance such as using a silver polishing cloth and avoiding getting excessively wet / coming into contact with perfumes and chemicals. This is because different types of silver can also contain alloys such as copper (this can show as a pinkish/yellowish tone). This can be polished off at home using a standard silver polishing cloth.

Fine silver is naturally slightly softer than other silver types due to the purity (it is pure silver and does not contain alloys, unlike 925). This means dents and scratches may be more visible although this can add to the character!

Silver or gold plated jewellery is as it suggests, only plated and is usually made from brass or similar metals. These coatings will eventually wear off although you can slow this process by looking after your jewellery (proper storage and not coming into contact with water and chemicals). Gold plated sterling silver will also require proper storage and not coming into contact with water and chemicals.

Chains, cords and wire - can stretch or break if pulled too hard or mistreated. Always check your clasp is securely closed and never try to take your necklace off over your head. All my pieces are tested prior to posting.

Please be aware that some materials such as beads and crystals can be delicate and are susceptible to cracking, chipping or snapping if banged or dropped. Fine corals, glass and natural stones for example can break from knocks and bangs. So please take care when wearing your pieces to keep them looking beautiful.

Keep your jewellery stored away from direct sunlight as UV rays can cause fading to some materials.

I handmake my jewellery using various self-taught techniques such as sand casting (pouring molten silver into sand) or silver clay (silver mixed with a binder which burns off during firing to leave pure silver). If you would like to learn more about my pieces - please email sales@carolineoliver.co.uk.

PACKAGING

I try to use as little plastic as possible for packaging but sometimes in order to protect your piece, I will use other materials. I mostly use cardboard, tissue paper, paper, fabric and cotton. The outer packaging for postage is made of low density polyethylene and is 100% recyclable. The outer delivery label is also made of clear polyethylene to protect the delivery note. These elements of packaging are used to protect your jewellery during transit. In future, I would like to use fully recyclable materials.

Special gift packaging is available as well as note cards. Please see website for details.
